Paintball

My Gear Articles Journal Projects Stolen Gun

Welcome to my paintball page. It's been 7 years since I've played paintball, and I'm trying to resurrect this hobby of mine.

I started playing when I was 15 or 16 years old. There was a local indoor store that had just opened up and my cousin and I decided to try it out. Fifteen dollars a piece gave us the gun rental, mask, co2, and 100 rounds of paint. Each of us had SL-68 IIs and we played in a speedball court--manno e manno. It was an adrenaline rush. Later this guy who was rather experienced came into the store and took both of us on. He knew what he was doing and we were scared s#!%-less, but after that we were hooked.

I rented a few more times and finally got myself a used F1. Later a VM-68...later an automag...an autococker...etc etc etc. By the time I was 18 I started feeling more confident, had a Level 3 autococker from Georgia Paintball, and was ready to try the tourney scene. At the time I was reffing occasionally for Wildfire paintballs scrimmage/practice matches. I wanted to join their team but decided to wait 'til I started my freshmen year at Georgia Tech. At the time, 'Tech had a collegiate paintball team, so I was looking forward to trying out for their team. To my surprise, the year I enrolled to 'Tech the team club had just disbanded. Shaft. As a poor college student, I realized I could no longer find the time or the resources to play paintball. This is when I started shooting pool at 'Tech. (Another Story).

Well, I'm all grown up living in Pennsylvania. It finally hit me about a month ago (Mar '03) that I'm living in the paintball capital of the east coast, so now I'm back...sort of.

I've finally purchased some used gear, so I'm going to try it out. We'll see how it goes. Stay tuned.
