When I gained interest in paintball, I decided to get a pump. Am I crazy? Not really. Here's my mentality. I want to get back into this sport rather cheap. When my cousin and friends were young, we called ourselves the P.O.W.s (Paintballers on Welfare). I felt with a pump gun I could conserve on the paint and hopefully keep my costs down. I figure I could at the most play about 2 weekends a month shooting only 500 rounds per session. I'll keep you posted on how realistic this is.
In addition, I felt I really haven't developed a lot of skillz. When I was young and probably to this day, all I learned how to do was just shoot. No strategy, no concept of snap shooting, just a lot of charging and spray-&-pray tactics. I'm hoping that by using a pump gun in today's age of electro-whamo paintguns, I'll have to develop some skills or just get killed everytime I get out there (I'm really hoping for the former and not the latter). It's similar to the sink-or-swim mentality.
Don't get me wrong. I still want to own another autococker and maybe a side order of automag to tinker with, but right now I'm just getting back into this.
